I need a bath.

Five hours later, all the seeds are in the ground along with the eggplant seedlings. When it comes right down to it, you never know if you planted things correctly. You hope you did....that the soil is just what they need, that the seed is deep enough or not too deep, and will there be sun again soon.... It's a waiting game for that first bit of green to poke itself out of the soil. A miracle! And that's why I come back to it year after year.

I ended up having to use a pitchfork to loosen up the soil yet again. All that rain created a solid mass of dirt. You just can't put a tiny carrot seed into a piece of solid dirt. But it's all done. Tomorrow I'll lay down black plastic around the entire garden and pound in the poles for the fence. And finally, stretching that awful chicken wire around the whole thing. Can't wait for that.

I was never much of a glove girl.
